Effective November 8, 2021, foreign nationals (from all over the world, including Bahamians) traveling to the United States by air will be required to be fully vaccinated and present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3 days of travel.

These changes were announced by Presidential Proclamation, Advancing the Safe Resumption of Global Travel During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

What you need to know:

• Children under the age of 18 are exempted

• All FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and WHO (World Health Organization) approved vaccines (and any combination thereof) will be accepted – that includes AstraZeneca.

• There are very limited exceptions to these rules; those exceptions (such as humanitarian exemptions, etc.) will not apply to the vast majority of travelers. In other words, regular tourist travelers cannot ‘get out of’ the vaccination requirement just by presenting a one-day-old negative COVID-19 test result.
