The government appears to be moving forward on cracking down on motorists driving without insurance. The Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2024, is set to come into effect on January 1, 2025.

But on #MorningBlendBusiness on Guardian Radio 96.9FM, we discuss one aspect of the legislation that is causing concern: a provision saying “a policy of insurance SHALL be renewable annually within the birth month of the insured person.”

What is the rationale behind this? And will this create a new set of issues, outside of what the government is seeking to address?
